Want to write your own RPG module?

December 2, 11:23 AM
by Daniel Nations, Games Examiner

Paizo Publishing's RPG Superstar 2009 gives everyone a chance to write their own RPG module.
Paizo Publishing is holding their second RPG design contest, RPG Superstar 2009. The contest consists of five rounds the winner of which will be commissioned to write their very own module for the Pathfinder RPG.

The contest starts on December 5th, 2008, and it lasts until the winner is announced on March 24, 2009. It will consist of five stages and be judged by Wolfgang Baur, fonder of Open Design and publisher of Kobold Quarterly, Clark Peterson, president of Necromancer Games, and Sean K. Reynolds, a professional game designer.

Clash of the Kingslayers won the RPG Superstar contest last year.

Not only will contestants be in the running for the grand prize, they will also have the opportunity to strut their stuff in front Paizo Publishing. In addition to Christine Schneider's winning entry "Clash of the Kingslayers", Paizo found a handful of talented designers that they've already put to work on some of their Pathfinder products.

The first stage of the contest has participants writing up their own wondrous item in 200 words or less. After that, the contest will go through stages where qualifying participants create a villain concept, design a villain's lair, and finally submit a full adventure proposal. Each stage will see the contest narrow as fewer and fewer contestants qualify for the next stage.

You can find out more about the contest by visiting the frequently asked questions.
