But is the Joke on Madden? Or is the Joke on Favre?

Brett Favre is now a member of the New York Jets.
J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!

When you pop open your Madden 09 game next week and get online for the first time, you'll be in for a nice surprise: the first roster patch. That's right, Brett Favre will be making his debut in a Jets uniform in your living room before he'll make his debut in a preseason game.

But who is the joke on? This year's Madden features Brett Favre on the cover -- in a Packers uniform. So is the joke on Madden? Or the is joke really on Brett? After all, Favre was supposed to be retired. Now he is not only coming back to a new team with a new offense he must run and new receivers he must find a rythmn with, he also has to contend with the Madden curse.

It is usually better not to tempt the Madden curse. And putting yourself in a situation to fail (going to a new team without the benefit of mini camps) is a mighty temptation.

On the other hand, Favre is a legend. Perhaps he is just man enough to break the Madden Curse.

On a different note, the roster patch will also put Jason Taylor in a Redskins uniform.
