Anyone playing NCAA Football 09 over the past few weeks knows how broken the defense has been in the game. Thankfully, EA Sports decided to patch one of the bugs that was making defense putty in the offense's hands.
As of this patch, the hook zones (yellow zones) will now work properly. Previously, the defender kept going backward until they were completely out of the zone's area. Not only will they stay in the proper area, but they also do a little bit better of a job covering receivers in that area.
While NCAA Football 09 is still definitely an offensive game, this should help a little in trying to slow down the opponent.
Another nice fix in this patch is an improvement to kick coverage. Perhaps we'll see the end of returners scoring multiple touchdowns. There were also a few other minor fixes such as putting an end to the dreaded strafe catch and an improvement in online performance.
You can download the patch by simply logging into Xbox Live while the game is booting up.
