Spore Hero brings the Spore franchise to the Nintendo Wii

EA is bringing Spore to the Wii and DS. Spore Hero for the Wii will deliver the freedom of Spore in a story-based adventure where the player creates their own hero who must quest to save their home world from the dark force that threatens the planet. Build from the ground up for the Wii, Spore Hero will take full advantage of the Wii's controls.

Spore Hero Arena for the Nintendo DS lets players fly from planet to planet to engage their gladiator Hero creator in arena-based combat. Players will be able to combine special abilities to create their own fighting style and hook up with their friends with the DS's Wi-Fi.

"When Maxis first considered bringing Spore to console players, the Nintendo platforms jumped out as a perfect fit. Whether it is the stylus-driven action of the Nintendo DS or playful controllers of the Wii, the massive Nintendo audience is the ideal home for Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena," said Lucy Bradshaw, VP and General Manager at Maxis. "Nintendo fans will love the humor, ability to create their own Hero, fun gameplay and immersive storylines we're creating for these two games."

Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena will be available in 2009.
