
There are a number of interesting Xbox 360 games coming soon in the first quarter of 2009. There's also a little bit of something for everyone from Street Fighter fans to survival horror nuts to anyone that ever wanted to jump in a fighter jet and dust their best friend.
Most anticipated Xbox 360 games coming soon: Halo Wars and Guitar Hero: Metallica. While real-time strategy games have experienced difficulty translating to consoles, the mere fact that it takes place in the world of Halo makes Halo Wars an anticipated title, while Guitar Hero: Metallica's appeal is driven by James, Lars, Kirk and Robert.
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. F.E.A.R. 2 continues the suspenseful story detailing a paranormal crisis. The sequel promises more variety and a more open environment than the original. A demo of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is available on Xbox Live. Release Date: 2/10/2009
Street Fighter IV. The newest in a long line of Street Fighter games, Street Fighter IV follows the basic principals of 2D fighting games while inserting nice 3D visuals. The game will also introduce new attacks called Focus Attacks in addition to Ultra Combos. Release Date: 2/17/2009
Godfather 2. Godfather 2 is a sequel to the Godfather game and based on the events in the Godfather 2 movie. Like the original, Godfather 2 will feature an open environment. It will also incorporate a Don's View where you can manage the Corleone criminal empire. Release Date: 2/24/2009
Halo Wars. Real-time strategy games have had a difficult time being translated to consoles, but this hasn't kept Halo Wars from being one of the most anticipated games to be released in 2009. The last title to be developed by Ensemble Studios, we'll soon see if the people behind Age of Empires can deliver RTS to the console. A demo of Halo Wars is available on Xbox Live. Major League Baseball 2K9. Baseball fans will want to keep an eye on MLB 2K9 when it releases in early March. While there is no huge singular feature improvement coming to this year's version, 2K Sports has invested a lot of time in rebuilding the graphical engine and tweaking the game engine to make batting, fielding and pitching more realistic. Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.. Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. is a bit more arcade than true flight sims, but it promises some cool multiplayer action. Similar to the Call of Duty series, H.A.W.X. will feature an experience system where you level up to unlock various stuff like new jets and gear, only in H.A.W.X. your experience is shared between single player and multiplayer. Resident Evil 5. The next installment of the venerable survival horror series puts the player in control of Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar, an African BSAA agent. It will take place ten years after the original Resident Evil game. You can also be joined online by a friend in story mode, who can jump in and out of a session while you are playing. Release Date: 3/13/2009
Wheelman. What do you get when you digitize Vin Diesel and put him in a video game that is like a cross between 2 Fast 2 Furious and The Transporter? A game to keep an eye on. While you will want to check the early reviews on this one, the game promises to expand on the idea of a car as a weapon. Release Date: 3/16/2009
Ninja Blade. If you think Ninja Blade is just another Ninja game, well, you might be right. But is there anything wrong with that? Set in a futuristic version of Tokyo, Ninja Blade is a bit more of a hack-n-slash ninja game with a slant towards the fantastical when it comes to using your ninja abilities. Release Date: 3/24/2009
Stormrise. Stormrise is another attempt to translate the real-time strategy genre onto the console, but it's taking a slightly different route than most. Instead of controlling your forces via an isometric viewpoint, Stormrise combines first-person elements with real-time strategy by allowing you to take control of units, and through them, control the surrounding units. Guitar Hero: Metallica. The first Guitar Hero: World Tour spin off lets you take your guitar, drums and vocals to Metallica's stage. In addition to playing with James, Lars, Kirk and Robert, you can also experience guest acts like Queen, Alice in Chains and the Foo Fighters. Release Date: 3/29/2009
