Killzone 2 is one of the most anticipated
PS3 games of 2009
2009 might be the year of the PS3. There are a number of great games for the PlayStation 3 due out in 2009, but many of the most anticipated PS3 games aren't coming out until later in the year. Of course, that doesn't mean there aren't a few great PS3 games coming soon.
Most anticipated PS3 games coming soon: Killzone 2 and Guitar Hero: Metallica. Killzone 2 brings the world of Helghan to the PlayStation 3 and is among the most anticipated PS3 games for 2009, while Guitar Hero: Metallica's appeal is relatively simple to explain: it's Guitar Hero and it's Metallica.

- F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. F.E.A.R. 2 continues the suspenseful first-person shooter detailing an escalating paranormal crisis. Great visuals and an interesting story highlight this upcoming PS3 title which promises more variety and a more open atmosphere than the original. A demo of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is available on the PlayStation Network.

- Street Fighter IV. The newest in a long line of Street Fighter games, Street Fighter IV follows the basic principals of 2D fighting games while inserting nice 3D visuals. The game will also introduce new attacks called Focus Attacks in addition to Ultra Combos.

- Godfather 2. Godfather 2 is a sequel to the Godfather game and based on the events in the Godfather 2 movie. Like the original, Godfather 2 will feature an open environment. It will also incorporate a Don's View where you can manage the Corleone criminal empire.

- Killzone 2. Killzone 2 takes place on the planet Helghan, home world of the Helghast. The game promises an advanced A.I. for the Helghast, who are formidable enemies capable of harnessing the power of their home world. A sci-fi first-person shooter, Killzone 2 is one of the most anticipated PS3 games coming soon.

- MLB 09: The Show. Perhaps the best Major League Baseball games available, the '09 version promises to improve the franchise and career modes. It will also include "Hotshot Field" that allows more dynamic fielder reactions and a system emulating hot and cold streaks by having the player's stats modify based on how well they are playing.

- Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.. It's time to take to the skies and get into a dogfight with your friends. Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. might be a bit more arcade than truer flight sims, but it promises some pretty cool multiplayer action. Similar to the Call of Duty series, H.A.W.X. will feature an experience system where you level up to unlock various stuff like new jets and gear, only in H.A.W.X. your experience is shared between single player and multiplayer.

Resident Evil 5 takes place 10 years after the original Resident Evil
- Resident Evil 5. The next installment of the venerable survival horror series puts the player in control of Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar, an African BSAA agent. It will take place ten years after the original Resident Evil game. You can also be joined online by a friend in story mode, who can jump in and out of a session while you are playing.

- Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. While the Command & Conquer series is one of the best RTS series out there, the genre still hasn't translated very well to consoles. That means Red Alert 3 on the PS3 is a game to keep an eye on if you like real-time strategy, but definitely read the early reviews before plopping down your money.

- Stormrise. Stormrise is the latest attempt to translate the real-time strategy genre onto the console. It also might be one of the more innovative PS3 games coming soon. Instead of controlling your forces via an isometric map, the game combines first-person elements with real-time strategy by allowing you to take control of units, and through them, control the surrounding units. But, like Red Alert 3, it's best to read the early reviews before buying.

- Guitar Hero: Metallica. The first Guitar Hero: World Tour spin off lets you take your guitar, drums and vocals to Metallica's stage. In addition to playing with James, Lars, Kirk and Robert, you can also experience guest acts like Queen, Alice in Chains and the Foo Fighters.
