Microsoft and Ensemble Studios announced today that Halo Wars has gone gold. Halo Wars is the strategy adaptation of the popular Halo games. A prequel to the series, Halo Wars will detail the story leading up to the first Halo game. In the campaign mode, players will get control of the armies from UNSC warship Spirit of Fire. You can also control Covenant forces in the multiplayer mode.
You can read more about the game and watch a few trailers at halo.xbox.com. In addition to the goodies found there, a public demo will be available on Xbox Live on February 5th. The demo will include "Chasms," one of fourteen multiplayer maps where you can battle it out in skirmish mode.
Halo Wars will be released on March 3rd, 2009.
