If you like to spend your evenings hunting down Nazis in Call of Duty: World at War or you like to occasionally dust off your Ghost Recon 2: Advanced Warfighter disc for some good, old-fashioned tactical shooter action, then you might be interested in America's Army 3.
The U.S. Army originally launched America's Army in 2002 using the Unreal engine. Aimed at giving a realistic look at what it is like being in the army, America's Army has a heavy emphasis on training and featured authentic weapons.
America's Army 3 will keep this tradition going while providing updated graphics, new missions, training and gameplay features. Players will have persistent characters they can take through a customized career path. You can start out in the role of a Rifleman, Automatic Rifleman, Designated Marksman or Grenadier. And new roles will continually be added to the game, the first of which will be the Combat Medic.
And, of course, the best part is that America's Army 3 is a free download. So you aren't going to plop down $50 to find out if its a dud or not.
From the press release:
"With AA3, we're taking military gaming to an all new level where every detail counts," said Col. Casey Wardynski, originator and Director of the America's Army game project. "We want our America's Army 3 players to have a greater understanding of the Army and its values. Our Soldiers are aspirational figures and our players are able to virtually experience many aspects of a Soldier's life from their training, to their missions, to the way the Army has influenced their lives."
