Dragon Age offers a number of class specializations that can be unlocked.

One of the neat things about Dragon Age: Origins is how you can extend the game by unlocking certain specializations for the three classes (Warrior, Mage and Rogue). These specializations give the character an extra skill line that can really define the character. The first specialization point is given at level 7, with a second point being given at level 14.

And the best part is that once a specialization is unlocked, it will stay unlocked for future character. So no need to talk to The Presence with future Arcane Warriors once you have done it that first time.

Dragon Age Mage Class Specializations

  • Arcane Warrior. This specialization allows the mage to don weapons and armor normally reserved for warriors and rogues and increase their ability in melee combat. Arcane Warriors gain 1 Dexterity and 5 Attack. Arcane Warrior is unlocked by speaking to The Presence in the lower level of the Brecilian Ruins.
  • Blood Mage. This specialization allows great power at the expense of health, with the highest blood magic allowing the control of an enemies mind. Blood Mages gain 2 constitution and 2 spell power. Blood Mage is unlocked by the Desire Demon during the Arl of Redcliffe quest.
  • Shapeshifter. This specialization grants the ability to change into the form of a spider, bear or flying swarm. Shapeshifters gain 2 constitution and 1 armor. Shapeshifter is unlocked by talking to Morrigan (companion) or through buying a tome from Varathorn in the Dalish Camp.
  • Spirit Healer. This specialization allows for group heals and even the ability to revive a fallen comrade in the midst of battle. Spirit Healers gain 2 magic and minor combat health regeneration. Spirit Healer is unlocked by talking to Wynne (companion) or through a tome purchased in Denerim.

Dragon Age Rogue Class Specializations

  • Assassin. This specialization is dedicated to the art of putting a single foe into an early grave. Assassins gain 2 dexterity and 2.5% crit chance. Assassin is unlocked through Zevran (companion) or by purchasing a tome in Denerim.
  • Bard. This specialization gives access to songs that will bolster the party's abilties. Bards gain 2 willpower and 1 cunning. The Bard is unlocked by talking to Leliana (companion) or Alimar in Orzammar.
  • Duelist. This specialization focuses on building speed and finesse, the art of striking at a vital spot and never being around for enemy attacks. Duelists gain 1 dexterity and 1 damage. Duelist is learned from Isabella during the Pearl in Denerim quest.
  • Ranger. This specialization focuses on building the ties to nature and summoning a wolf, bear or spider to aid the player. Rangers gain 1 constitution and 5 natural resistance. Rangers are unlocked by purchasing a tome in the Party Camp.

Dragon Age Warrior Class Specializations

  • Berserker. This specialization is focused on becoming a half-crazed juggernaut. Berserkers gain 2 strength and 10 health. Berserker is unlocked through Oghren (companion) or Gorim in Denerim.
  • Champion. This specialization uses war cries and their very presence to motivate those around them. Champions gain 2 willpower and 1 cunning. Champion is unlocked by completing the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest.
  • Reaver. This specialization focuses on pain and death, even to the point of dishing out greater damage as their own health wanes. Reavers gain 1 constitution and 5 physical resistance. Reaver is learned from Kolgrim in the Wyrmling Lair.
  • Templar. This specialization is focused on fighting enemy spellcasters. Templars gain 2 magic and 3 mental resistance. Templar is unlocked through talking with Alistair (companion) or through purchasing a tome at the Party Camp.
