Beyond wearing those little red poppies on Veteran's Day and plunking in a few coins, there are many ways to thank those who have served our country.

  • Show up at the parade in your area and give a hand to those who served
  • Tell your children and grandchildren what it means to you
  • Visit a patriotic museum with the family and discuss patriotism
  • Honor America and respect her flag.
  • Watch and wait for the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month and be thankful in your heart for the Stars and Stripes and all they represent.

The Carlyle Suites and Savoy Suites Hotels released the following announcement in recognition of America's military service people and veterans: If you are a Veteran or Active Duty member of our country’s armed forces, THANK YOU!! You have already provided service for which we are eternally grateful. Book your reservation at www.SavoySuites.com or www.CarlyleSuites.com under the “YOU SERVED, NOW STAY” package. You will receive a 50% discount off of your room rate with evidence of your military service

· If you are a volunteer, book your reservation at www.SavoySuites.com or www.CarlyleSuites.com under the “SERVE AMERICA and STAY IN DC” package. Complete 5 hours of community service (per room night confirmed) at the organization of your choosing and receive a 50% refund of your room rate (excluding taxes). Certain restrictions do apply and you’ll be required to provide proof of your community service, but it’s as easy as that!

· If you choose to donate the dollars instead, book your reservation at www.SavoySuites.com or www.CarlyleSuites.com under the “SERVE AMERICA & STAY IN DC” package and the hotels will contribute 50% of your room rate (excluding taxes) to any volunteer organization of your choosing located on VolunteerMatch.org.
