Gillett Evernham Motorsports (GEM) announced Friday that Elliott Sadler will drive the No. 19 Dodge in the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

There was some speculation that AJ Allmendinger would replace Sadler and there was even the threat of a lawsuit by Sadler who had singed a multi year contract last year. GEM announced Thursday that they have agreed in principal to merge with Petty Enterprise to become a four car operation in 2009.

“We are a family," said Tom Reddin, GEM CEO. "Sometimes in a family you have differences. We have resolved all differences. We are moving on and excited about heading to Daytona.”

“I want to drive. I’m a racer and that’s what I do," said Sadler. "We are all on the same page now and I think you will see that show on the track.”
