Monday as Penske Racing was announcing that newly signed Brad Keselowski would take over for David Stremme at this weekends NASCAR Sprint Cup event in Texas, the 25 year old driver was at Daytona International Speedway in his new ride turning laps as part of a two day Goodyear tire test.

A total of 18 drivers in 17 cars spent Monday and Tuesday testing at Daytona for Goodyear as the sole supplier of tires to NASCAR works on a compound to bring back for the 2010 season opening Daytona 500.

Penske originally signed Keselowski in September to replace Stremme starting in 2010, but they announced Monday that Keselowski would take over this weekend and compete in the final three races of the season.

“I think the biggest hurdle for me is to look around and see how everything works on the No. 12 Penske Dodge team,” Keselowski said Tuesday in a team preview for Texas. “I need to be very observant and try to understand how we do things. There are a million little things that are going to be different. The most challenging part will be adjusting to how things are done, but I feel we are all up to the task.”

Joining Keselowski at Daytona were Dale Earnhardt Junior, Kurt Busch, Jamie McMurray, Kyle Busch, David Ragan, Sam Hornish Jr., David Reutimann, Marcos Ambrose, Regan Smith, A.J. Allmendinger, Scott Speed, Erik Darnell, Paul Menard and Sterling Marlin.

The field was the largest ever for a Goodyear tire test at Daytona. No incidents were reported.
