This past weekend the big winner at the box office, as expected, was the Michael Jackson concert film This Is It. It's $32.5 million take goes from its opening date of Wednesday October 28th through Sunday November 1st. One would think that every one on the face of the planet would be sick of hearing about Jackson by now but apparently that's not the case. In at number two is the horror flick phenom Paranormal Activity. It earned $16.5 million over the weekend bumping its grand total so far to $84.7 million, which is seriously impressive for a film that cost $11,000 to make and has received an audience largely through word of mouth. In disappointing news, Couples Retreat remains in the top ten landing in the number 4 position and bumping up its grand total so far to $86.6 million. That means that since advertising for it has all but disappeared, it continues to thrive through word of mouth. How anyone could recommend that movie to anyone else is incomprehensible. Also disappointing is that Saw VI has made $22.8 million in it's few couple weeks, more than covering its $11 million budget which means a Saw VII is in our future. Thanks, America. The rest of the top ten are as follows:
