Baseball
After losing the first two games of the weekend series to Arizona State, Southern California finally broke through on Sunday, defeating the Devils 8-2. The Trojans have had a rough go of things to start the season and stand 11-12 on the season and 1-4 in Pac-10 play. The win against Arizona State handed the Devils their first Pac-10 loss of the season while USC garnered their first Pac-10 win of the season. Slick-hitting freshman, Ricky Oropesa gathered three hits in the game including his fourth homerun of the season. Anthony Vasquez also homered and knocked in three RBI to help lead the Trojans to victory.

Track & Field
The USC Trojans had a nice showing at the recent Cal-Nevada Championships held in Los Angeles, California, over the weekend. Brysun Stately, a redshirt junior, pole vaulted to a USC school record 13-9 ¼ (4.20m) and took second place in the women’s pole vault competition. Stately’s jump actually broke the school record that she had previously held by about inch and a half. Eva Orban was another notable Trojan at the Cal-Nevada Championships. Orban has been one of the top woman’s hammer throwers in the nation and won first place with a season-best throw of 222-10 (67.93m).
At the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, California, Zsofia Erdelyi set a school-record with her win in the 10,000m race.

Men’s Volleyball
The USC men’s volleyball team had an impressive showing on Saturday, getting out the broom and sweeping the UC San Diego squad, 30-25, 30-26, 30-27. In what was their final home game of the season, the No. 4-ranked men’s team finished off UC San Diego and will now move on to their last six away games of the regular season.

Women’s Tennis
After being tortured by the Cardinal women for a little over 23 years, the Women of Troy got a 5-2 win and snapped a streak of 50 straight losses to Stanford. Coming up big in the doubles match, Alison Ramos and Cristala Andrews teamed up to knock off the Stanford women, 8-3, in the first match of the day. Along with the strong performances of Ramos and Andrews, Amanda Fink, Leyla Entekhabi and Lynday Kinstler put the Trojan women over the top for the day. Congratulations to the Trojans Women’s Tennis team for their impressive victory this weekend!

Men’s Tennis
While the men’s team has not had to endure 50 straight losses at the hands of the Cardinal, the USC men’s team did get a 4-3 victory over Stanford over the weekend. It was a big upset for the No. 8 Trojans, who knocked off a No. 4 ranked Cardinal squad.

Women’s Water Polo
The No. 2 USC women’s water polo team has been unbelievable this entire season and this Saturday proved to be no different with a 10-7 win over No. 7 San Diego State. Seven different Trojans scored in the game helping USC improve to a 17-1 record including 5-0 in MPSF play.
