With Sports Examiners throwing their hat into the ring of Top 25 college football projections, we thought it would be a good idea to give college basketball rankings a shot as well. Welcome to our 2009-10 women's college basketball rankings.
While I was not bold enough to include the USC men's team in my Top 25, I did find room to include the Women of Troy in my college basketball rankings.
The Southern California women's basketball team lost a number of key contributors from last year's team, including Brynn Cameron, Camille LeNoir and Nadia Parker, who combined for 31.7 ppg last season.
For the 2009-10 season, the Trojans will rely on the presence of veteran junior center Kari LaPlante, team captain Aarika Hughes, as well as 2009's Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, Briana Gilbreath.
Staying healthy will be a main concern for the USC women's basketball team this year. The Trojans will get a boost with the return of Stefanie Gilbreath who missed all of last year with a knee injury as well as junior guard Jacki Gemelos later on in the season. Gemelos is slated to return in January 2010 as she continues to rehab from her latest knee surgery.
The Women of Troy kick off their season November 13th against Xavier at the Galen Center.
