It seems that men don't stray far from a certain desirable physical type of woman. Hair and eye color, facial structure, and height. Men seek the same traits in a woman; it is natural. Sociologists tell us that the desired physical attraction we feel for a sexual partner is imprinted on our brains at a very young age. The why or wherefore is still being determined.

Think about your own dating history. You are always attracted to a certain type and though you may date others who do not meet your criteria for the ideal partner you are still strongly drawn to your own idea of the dream mate and will constantly look for him or her. Most married men who cheat will continue to seek out the same type of female partner, in looks and education, as their wives albeit in a "newer" model.

This is certainly the case with Governor Sanford's choice of mistress. It is more than apparent in the physical similariities between the South Carolina Governor's wife Jenny and his mistress,  Maria Belen Chapur. The top picture on this page is of Jenny Sanford his wife, while the one below is of his mistress Maria. She is truly a younger version of Jenny Sanford.

It may be interesting to Jenny Sanford that her husband chose a woman who looks remarkably like her with whom to have an affair, but it is certainly cold comfort. It doesn't tell her why. But his choice in women who look alike tells us reams about the governor. In choosing this woman he may have been trying to recapture his younger days, playing a mind-game with himself. It is amazing what tricks the mind can play. Unfortunately those tricks have cost the governor his marriage.

When asked about his future career in politics, Jenny Sanford told reporters, " His career is not a concern of mine. He'll have to worry about that. I'm going to worry about my family and the character of my children."
