HappyHallowe'en!
Dressing up as someone else can be fun and interesting for couples. If you’re invited to a party where costumes are expected, you might like to dress as a couple from your favorite movie, Broadway show, or book. Through the years, my husband and I have been Count Dracula and his victim Lucy, a cat and a dog, Glinda, the Good Witch and the Scarecrow, Raggedy Annie and Andy, and Nala and Simba. (the cat and dog costumes we kept came in handy, with a few adjustments, for the two lions from “The Lion King!”) One year I borrowed a cheerleading outfit from a high-schooler ; my husband bought a clown mask and we went as the cheerleader and the class clown! to a party.
You do not need to be a costume designer or even sew well to make costumes. If making a costume was based simply on sewing, I would have been out of luck! Using your creativity and imagination, a few odds and ends, and make-up, you can create a fun costume for you and your guy.
For adult Hallowe’en parties you can be a little more daring in costume and the person you’re presenting. A pair of very sexy vampires, a romantically involved 1930’s private eye and his hot secretary, Brad and Angelina, a hot looking tango dance couple, Carrie and Big from “Sex in the City,” all fun and imaginative not only for the party but after as well.
Another great idea is to host a party yourself for your friends. Have a theme to your gathering and send it out on your invitations. Since vampires are always in vogue, perhaps you’ll want to have a Vampire-themed party.
One of the best parties we ever attended was one based on the "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" The house was decorated like a set for the movie as the movie played silently in the background just for atmosphere. There were lots of Janets and Brads, a few Dr. FRank-n-Furter, and sexy Magentas and Columbias.
Have fun with the day and become someone else if only for a few hours. See this as a fun experience for you and your spouse. Don’t miss out on the joy of this wonderful day! You don’t have to have children to enjoy the holiday, adults can have fun too!
