LAS VEGAS - OCTOBER 3: O.J. Simpson is handcuffed...

OJ Simpson was led away in handcuffs yesterday after having been convicted by a jury of his peers for kidnapping and extortion. His conviction came thirteen years to the day he was acquitted of the violent murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

OJ Simpson is a violent man. It isn’t as some pseudo-psychiatrists say a by-product of the sport of football. I cannot imagine men such as Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, or Brett Favre being wife-beaters. Tough and hard they may be on the field but they are gentle men in every day life. Most men are. Football itself doesn’t make a man violent.

Monsters are violent and there is no one reason why.

OJ Simpson is a monster who bought into the idea that he was above the law because of his playing prowess. He was on a power trip. His attitude about women was fueled by star-struck football groupies on the road who allowed themselves to be debased by a football star, and an ego that allowed him to think women were there solely for his twisted pleasure and as throw-away objects of no substance. Simpson’s idea of what a relationship should be was skewed to say the least. Women were non-beings good only for one thing. A real relationship with a thinking intelligent woman was not something this person would ever think to contemplate.

He abused his wife Nicole, a beautiful woman in every respect, physically and emotionally. Telling a woman who is carrying a child you two created that she is fat and that her pregnant body disgusts you is as abusive as you can get emotionally. Follow that up with repeated physical abuse and you are nothing more than a monster disguised as a man.

The fact that this monster was able to use his football notoriety to charm the police, (who were called repeatedly by a desperate Nicole), in order to escape assault and battery charges, is a sad commentary on the abuse of celebrity “star” power.

Marriage should be a place where you feel safe, loved, and not a place of emotional and physical turmoil. Those vows you take should mean something.

Barring an overturning of the verdict by an appellate court, Simpson won’t be tasting freedom any time soon. It may not be the justice the Goldman and Brown families were looking for thirteen years ago, but it is justice of a sort. A violent man will finally be put behind bars.

This will put an end to OJ Simpson search for “the real murderer of Nicole.”

I understand it was a search to which he faithfully adhered every day while playing golf.

What a shame he can't search any more.

I hear from very good sources that they don’t have golf courses in prison.
