A question often asked of the Park employees and residents is "what is there to do here?" Guests, often eager to see a natural wonder or wanting to find out what makes Grand Canyon so grand, start to come down after their high from the initial awe inspiring sight of the Grand Canyon and can't figure out what to do next. Many ask themselves or Park staff, "Well, I've seen the Canyon. What now?" Sometimes visitors decide to go to their next stop on their road trip using more than 6 or the 7 day pass they paid for unused. Sometimes, visitors spend as much time in front of the televisions in their rooms as they do outside exploring the national park.
Xanterra Parks and Resorts and Xanterra South Rim, L.L.C. partnered with many of the Grand Canyon and area businesses and organizations to help answer the frequent question, "What else?" Xanterra expanded a section on their website called "Things to Do" from a simple listing of some of the activities available to Park visitors and guests to an interactive menu to help anyone find something to do while at Grand Canyon National Park.
Visitors to the sight have an abundent amount of choices and options to help make more of their stay in the Park and their experience of Grand Canyon. Visitors can search by location or by activity. Search options also allow visitors to select activities by duration, distance, and even intesity level. The website uses the input of Grand Canyon residents, experts, and employees to build a list of activities available. Photos are taken from Xanterra's own photo libraries, NPS photo archives, and other photos contributed by organizations in the Grand Canyon and Tusayan communities. Photos provided from photo contests held by Xanterra are also used to help visitors understand and see each activity as it is enjoyed by other guests.
Xanterra revamped and expanded their website to help visitors get the most from their Grand Canyon visit. There is more to the Grand Canyon experience than a family photo along the rim. Grand Canyon has thousands of years of human history, millions of years of prehistory, and billions of years of geologic history. There are high quality restaurants and lodges in Grand Canyon Village and Tusayan. There is great shopping unique to the Southwest, handcrafted Native American jewelry and crafts, and Grand Canyon merchandise to meet most anyone's taste and needs. The "Things to Do" part of Xanterra's website not only covers Grand Canyon National Park, but Yellowstone National Park, Ohio Parks and Resorts, and more Xanterra operations with more coming.
