Although Ivar's hung up its fireworks show after 44 years, the WaMu Family 4th will morph on as the Chase Family 4th at Lake Union. The long-lived Fourth-of-Julivar's got its start at Green Lake in 1964. From there, it moved to Lake Union and eventually Elliott Bay. That's where it had its last show in 2008.

The Chase Family 4th will be held at Gas Works Park (2101 N. Northlake Way) on Saturday, July 4, 2009. Admission is free, and the full day family affair is from noon to 11 PM. The annual event features the Chase Playfield, plenty of food booths and a lakeside beer garden. Park guests may bring in personal food and beverages, including coolers (subject to search). Personal barbecues and alcoholic beverages brought in from outside the park are a no-no. The barbecues on the park grounds are available on a first-come, first served basis.

Providing music will be Sound Wave, the official band of the Seattle Sounders FC, and a performance of the National Anthem by the School of Rock: Northwest All Stars

The red-white-blue celebration culminates at around 10 PM with a world-class fireworks display set within the natural amphitheater that is Lake Union. This will be the 21st time that the show has been produced by One Reel, the non-profit arts and events organization that's also behind Bumbershoot and Teatro ZinZanni. In other words, they put on one cool party!

For those who would rather stay home, KING 5 will be broadcasting the fireworks show in HD beginning at 10 PM, and two radio stations (96.5 JACK FM and KZOK 102.5 FM) will be simulcasting the fireworks soundtrack

Pan Pacific Package: One of Seattle's newest and most luxurious hotels has a special Fireworks Package to celebrate our country's Independence Day. At the Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle, you'll receive a bottle of bubbly, patriotic cupcakes and also have some of the best seats in the city to watch the fireworks form your guest room. Also included is complimentary overnight valet parking, breakfast from room service the following morning and a late-check out on Sunday, July 5. The rate is $299 for a room with a view (or $249 with no view, but you can walk to nearby South Lake Union for a closer look).
