I love the Golden Globes. And after last year's writers' strike in Hollywood and the scaled back awards show, the 66th edition on TV tonight should be zapped with energy. Although the Oscars are the biggie, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awards officially kick off the season. They're looser (must be all that sparkling water at the tables) and less scripted. Tonight's show will again be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and broadcast on NBC.

I attended a meeting at the Beverly Hilton Hotel several years ago. The legendary hotel had just resurfaced from a $80 million face lift and she was lookin' good. However, I opted to stay at a smaller property, The Crescent, located in the Beverly Hills Golden Triangle and just around the corner from Rodeo Drive.

Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, It's my kind of hotel. Chic, sleek and modern rooms; on-site restaurant Boe, where I enjoyed both lunch and dinner and cocktails, both indoors and alfresco; free WiFi; and a cool indoor/outdoor fireplace. Oh, and the good looking bartender was what else? An actor by the name of Paul Papadakis, who I recognized as the red sock loft dancer in those cool Coca-Cola ads. I've seen him since on Nip/Tuck and CSI NY.
