Silverwood Theme Park is the Northwest's largest theme park.

Idaho's Silverwood Theme Park has transformed itself into Scarywood Haunted Nights. Running weekends only throughout the month of October, there are two components to this scary happening. By day, it's family oriented activities for the kids: decorating Halloween cookies, trick or treating along the Garfield trail and participating in a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes and the top ones are eligible to win a 2010 Gold Season Pass or a 2010 Single Season Pass.

On Saturday nights, the park transforms into Scarywood, which features two chilling attractions. The Thunder Canyon raft ride will be drained and converted into the Terror Canyon Trail that features fog, graveyards, a Sasquatch, zombies and vampires. The MidFRIGHT Express will transform the normally mild-mannered Steam Engine No. 7 into a ghost and ghoul ride of terror.

There will also be scare zones throughout the park and a feature called Nick's Nightmare Magic Show. Plus, Timber Terror, Tremors (seen in the photo) and the rest of the rides will be operating in the evenings. The nighttime haunted portion is not recommended for children 12 and under.

October prices are $20.49 for general admission (all ages), which also includes a ticket for May 2010. There is an additional $7 charge for the haunted attractions, Terror Canyon Trail and MidFRIGHT Express (includes entry to each attraction one time during the evening).

Silverwood is the Northwest's largest theme park, with more than 65 rides and attractions including the giant steel roller coaster, two wooden roller coasters, a corkscrew coaster, 1915 steam engine train ride, live entertainment and restaurants. It's located just minutes north of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on Highway 95 in northern Idaho. The nearest urban center is Spokane, WA, 30 minutes west of Coeur d'Alene on Interstate 90.

Scarywood Hotel Special: The Holiday Inn Express & Suites in nearby Hayden, Idaho is the closest place to stay when visiting Silverwood. And it's conveniently attached to the Triple Play Family Fun Park and Raptor Reef Indoor Waterpark. The hotel features bunk bed suites, fireplace suites and two-room family suites accommodating up to eight people. Book a room and present your Scarywood ticket or Silverwood receipt dated 9/15-11/1 and you'll receive a $20 gift card to Triple Play.
