Titanic exhibition on view in US

BODIES...The Exhibition is making a return visit to Seattle, even though somebody snagged a kidney during its debut in the Emerald City in 2006. The missing organ was eventually returned, as reported in this story in The Seattle Times.

According to Premier Exhibitions, the producer of the show also responsible for the popular Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, BODIES is the most successful exhibition in Seattle's history. It opens on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at 1505 5th Avenue (corner of 5th Avenue and Pike Street) in downtown Seattle. The exhibition is scheduled to run through March 2010.

Here's how the exhibition is described on its website: This Exhibition--which features actual human specimens--allows people of all ages access to sights and knowledge normally reserved only for medical professionals. Take the opportunity to peer inside yourself, to better understand how your elaborate and fascinating body works, and how you can become a more informed participant in your own health care.

The exhibition has not been without controversy. In addition to the stolen organ in Seattle, there has been much discussion about the display of cadavers.

Here's a review of the previous Seattle show from the Seattle P-I: Education or freak show? BODIES...The Exhibition cashes in on our own curiosity. And a review of the new, redesigned show by the P-I's Monica Guzman.
