The case of Rachel Hoffman, a 23-year-old woman who was murdered while working as an undercover informant for the Tallahassee, Florida, Police Department, has stirred up outrage among her friends and family -- and among decent people who never knew her but heard about her case. Police used a drug bust to arm-twist the untrained Hoffman into going undercover to buy a large amount of drugs and a gun -- a transaction completely out of character for her.
The Marijuana Policy Project has posted a short, effective video giving the details of her case and pointing out the tragic effects of America's drug prohibition.
You can also see the video here.
And there's more information on Hoffman's tragic case at Common Sense for Drug Policy.
And the (minor) consequences for police misbehavior in the case -- one officer fired, others reprimanded and suspended -- can be found here.
