The people have spoken, and the votes have been tallied. This year's NBA 2K10 cover feature is Kobe Bryant showing off the Laker's purple and yellow with a big 24 plastered on the front. The selection process included several other shots including a possible Dwight Howard cover, and a Spike Lee's wish to see The Closer in blue. Don't worry Jack, Kobe isn't going anywhere.
After the Laker's stellar victory over the Orlando Magic, it was only appropriate to name the Black Mamba this year's NBA 2K10 cover feature.
This marks the Laker's 15th NBA franchise victory, and it is an especially important one for Bryant. After being the center of much ridicule for his inability to win without Shaq, he has finally slammed the door on many critics.
We want to congratulate Kobe on the phenomenal accomplishment of winning his fourth career NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers, along with being named NBA Finals MVP,” said Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development for 2K. “He’s undoubtedly solidified his legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history, and we couldn’t have chosen to partner with a more fitting player to be on the cover of NBA 2K10 this season, our 10th anniversary of the NBA 2K franchise.
Of course, none of this could have been been made a reality without the help from veteran Derek Fisher, all-star Pau Gasol, and the rest of the Laker team. Congratulations!
Don't get too comfortable because this year the Los Angeles rivalry is on when the LA Clippers draft the number one pick, Blake Griffin.
PC gamers can expect NBA 2K10 to be released this fall.
