Valve finds relief for Left 4 Dead fans
Valve's E3 announcement left many of its fans in disapproval this year, which sparked a massive boycott. In response, Valve quickly catered its voice to its fans and released a statement to Kotaku.
Doing a sequel in one year is new for Valve. But providing ongoing support for our titles after the initial launch isn't - it has been part of our philosophy since Half-Life was released ten and half years ago... We see no reason to change that and will continue to support the over three million customers in the L4D community.
Basically, Valve will continue to support Left 4 Dead 1 with ongoing updates and patches similar to how Half-Life is still being supported. In addition, the release of mod tools will hopefully pass the torch onto its cult following, which will keep the game alive for years to come.
The release of mod tools have spawned some pretty outstanding games like Counter-Strike and Defense of the Ancients. Maybe we'll see a moders version of Raccoon City recreated within the Left 4 Dead realm. Maybe?
A note to protesters: Let's hold onto our torches and nooses for a while longer, and see where this rickety path takes us. Valve has always delivered (I can't think of a time where they haven't ), and let's enjoy this ride.
