New home technology gadgets are sprouting everywhere just in time for Father's Day and summer gift giving events like graduations and weddings. Let's consider a couple of new home technology gadgets like a video phone, 3D TV and your very own stun gun for self defense.

ACN has recent video phone technology they're calling the next must have home technology device. I haven't tested the IRIS3000, but the maker claims it's a true-to-life experience. You can leave video mail messages and create a video greeting for your voicemail. This hinges on you wanting people to see you yawning and scratching in your jams at 8 a.m. and on you even wanting a landline any more.

3D TV  - Are you over the DTV vs analog signal crisis yet? It may have been good practice for the question of 3D TV. Major players like Mitsubishi, Panasonic and others are poised to market 3D ready sets, but since there are three kinds of technology for 3D, and one requires glasses who knows where this will go. Buy a 3D-ready set if you want, Comcast is making noise about 3D programming. Just remember BetaMax and VHS or BluRay and HDDVD.

Stun gun home technology. Dunno what I think about this. There had best be an ID check for age when people buy these. It's a great idea for people walking around alone at night. Not so hot for punks. This stun gun has a voltage output of 1800KV which they say could do a temp disable on an attacker. It's small and convenient, with a price point under $50. I'm not going to link to it. Makes me nervous.

There you go - a few home technology ideas to mull over as you consider your summer gift giving. If you have thoughts about these technologies, we're eager to read your comments.
