The re-review offered by Eurogamer to Darkfall is now live.

The original score of 2/10 has been raised... to 4/10.

The interludes alone make this review worth reading. Eurogamer picked the perfect person to handle this hot potato. He covers the old drama, tempting scenarios, philosophical musings, and oh yeah, a very good snapshot of the actual game.

I've been debating how best to review MMOs since Everquest launched in 1999 and I'm still no nearer a definitive answer. I suspect we're just screwed.

And on why an MMO review with twenty hours of playing is still fair:

Because if it's horrific in that time, you're never going to recommend it to anyone anyway. If someone pisses on my shoes all night at the pub, I don't care if I get crazed fellatio at closing time: I'm only going to recommend it to the glorious perverts who like the urine-feet thing.
