I saw the link on Kotaku: Ragnarok Online DS is launching in Korea.

DS? You can do an MMO on the DS? What?

Well, no, as it turns out. Apparently it won't be so much "massively" multiplayer as "three people" mutliplayer.

But while I was verfiying information for you, I went to the Ragnarok website. It looks like your basic Asian free to play suffering from a sugar overdose, and my eyes started to glaze over. Then I hit the "Value Added Service" section. Server transfer, name change, stat respec, blah blah bl... gender change? I knew parts of Asia were way ahead of North America in that respect, but I was still startled.

The jokes write themselves, some mornings.

Anyway, I clicked the link.

Characters getting a gender change must not have any items equipped. Bards and Dancers will also get a full skill respec along with the change. Any characters that were married will be divorced before the gender change. WTH? Guess we're not so forward thinking after all!

But I'm way off track from my original subject. The Ragnarok Online DS game will be live in North America this winter, but not really as an online game, just a franchise extension. I wonder which mainstream MMO will hit the DS first?
