Ever seen an improv or sketch show and thought “I could do that,” or “how do they do that,” or even “I could probably do better than that?” Here’s some info on how you can get a taste of what it’s like to swim in the ocean that is the Chicago comedy scene.

Second City’s next term of classes are starting up, and no matter what level of performance experience or knowledge of sketch/improv you have, they have a class to suit you. Course descriptions can be found on the website that detail what’s offered and to whom. If you’ve never delved into this realm before, you might want to start at the New Students page and check out the descriptions and prices of the entry-level courses. Interested in writing comedy, not so much performing it? Check out the writing classes they offer.

Improvisation is a great skill to develop and can benefit your life in ways you might not think or expect. Taking classes is also a great way to meet new people, so if you think you’re socially awkward you should definitely jump in and take advantage of the great opportunities comedy classes offer. Have fun, and don’t be afraid!
