We are all familiar with the iconic army recruitment poster featuring a pointing Uncle Sam authoritatively telling viewers, "I WANT YOU!" But enough about Uncle Sam, the SF MOMA and San Francisco-based performance artist, Tony Labat, want to know what YOU want.  I WANT YOU, the latest project in the SF MOMA's Live Art series, invites Bay Area dwellers to fill in the blanks (I want you to____) and share their demands with a live audience.

Solo auditions will be held on Thursday, September 4th at SF MOMA--participants should come prepared with a one-minute monologue elaborating on their idea.  Fifty finalists selected by coordinating artist, Tony Labat, will perform their monologues before a live audience and documentary cameras on the following Thursday, September 11th.  The winners, determined by audience vote, will have their images and monologues printed on  "I WANT YOU" posters that will be posted around the city just in time for the upcoming presidential election.  The winners will also be featured in a November screening of Labat's video project "I WANT YOU" at the SF MOMA.

The SF MOMA's Live Art series and Tony Labat's participatory art facilitates timely and meaningful dialogue in a world where the internet/technology (remember when "YOU" were Time Magazine's Person of the Year?), performance, and free speech continues to transform the political landscape.
