Rediscovering the Fourth Generation: Film Series at the SF MOMA

In conjunction with the

Half Life of a Dream:Contemporary Art from the Logan Collection,

the

SF MOMA

will be hosting a film series throughout the month of October that examines the response of filmmakers after the Cultural Revolution. After over a decade of strict censorship, save for Maoist propaganda films, the long awaited response from film makers resulted in cinema loosely defined by experimentation and humanist themes.  It was an exciting time for film making in China and the SF MOMA's film series introduces viewers to a few films that are truly exemplary of the

zeitgeist.
