Convention Turning Greener than Gumby

August 19, 11:26 PM

Environmentalism On the Rocks
The city of Denver gives itself a well-deserved pat on the back this Sunday at Red Rocks.  "Green Sunday at Red Rocks" will feature sets from Dave Mathews with Tim Reynolds, Sheryl Crow, Sugarland and an address by climate activist Laurie David.

In what is being called the greenest-ever DNC, the Denver host committee will celebrate the city's greening efforts in preparation of this year's convention.  The Democratic Party hopes to convince Americans they're the environmentally sound choice this fall.  This event sets the tone, putting the focus on Mother Earth in a venue reknown for its natural beaty.

In addition to activists, rock stars and activist-rock stars, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Denver Mayor Hickenlooper, US Senator Ken Salazar and Congresswoman Diana DeGette will also be on hand.  Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia has been announced as a guest, fueling speculation that he may indeed be Obama's running mate.

And we could be getting a text message bright and early about that running mate issue, so you may want to leave the cell phone on through the night. OMG!

I have a feeling the green we'll all be thinking about come election day is the green paper rapidly flying out of our wallets.
