The Central Plains Regional Health Care Foundation is looking to find out if Sedgwick County's working uninsured would be interested in a community-wide health plan.
Organizers said they would like residents who don't have health insurance coverage to participate in an online survey, part of a feasibility study supported by the Sedgwick County Health Access Project. The survey is available through July 31.
The Project is a community-wide initiative with public and private partners, including hospitals, physician groups, small and large employers and others interested in the health of people that live in our community, organizers said.
The survey is intended specifically for uninsured individuals who work for employers unable to provide health insurance benefits or employers who provide health insurance coverage but employees opt out of those plans.
The survey is an important component of the Community Coverage Initiative, whose goal is to determine the feasibility of establishing a community-wide coverage plan for Sedgwick County citizens who do not have health insurance, officials said.
The initiative is an outgrowth of the Sedgwick County Health Access Project, spearheaded by Commissioner Tim Norton. Project Access is a project of the Central Plains Regional Health Care Foundation in partnership with the Medical Society of Sedgwick County.
Central Plains is working with an advisory committee to define a plan of action to share with the community by the end of 2009, officials said.
