Via Christi Health System is now Via Christi Health.

The name change and new logo, effective today, is part of a positioning initiative by the health system that supports Via Christi's continuing efforts to transform and define how it delivers health care, officials said.

“People have consistently told us that they hold a high level of trust in Via Christi,” said Kevin Conlin, president and chief executive, in a statement. “By clearly identifying our services as Via Christi, we will make it easier for the public to access the services they need from the birth of a child to assisted living or skilled nursing care.”

Via Christi, a Catholic, non-profit health system with more than 9,000 employees, also updated its mission statement and core values to read:

"Inspired by the Gospel and our Catholic tradition,
we serve as a healing presence
with special concern for our neighbors who are vulnerable."

The new logo consists of three shapes that come together to form a cross.

“The new logo accentuates our name – Via Christi, which is Latin for ‘The Way of Christ,’” said Lynnette RauvolaBouta, senior vice president for mission integration, in a news statement today. “Each part of the logo represents one of our core values – human dignity, stewardship and excellence.”

Via Christi was formed on Oct. 1, 1995, when the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wichita merged and became Via Christi Health System. The name change today, 14 years later, honors that anniversary, officials said.

Part of the re-energizing branding strategy is an effort to provide consistency among Via Christi's many affiliations.

“Across Kansas and in northeast Oklahoma, there are more than 90 points of entry into Via Christi, from physicians’ offices to hospitals to senior living communities, many of which are not presently named Via Christi,” said David Gambino, senior vice president for strategy. “Moving to a common name and logo simplifies the experience for everyone we serve.”
