Check the local library for a variety of women specific running books. Here are a few titles to look for.
Run For It
- A woman's guide to running for emotional and physical health.
- Karen Bridson (Burford Books, 2002).
Bridson started running to help her loose weight, and became addicted to running in the process.

Joan Benoit Samuelson won the Boston Marathon in 1979 and 1983. In 1984 she won the gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympic Games, this was the first time the women's marathon was included in the Olympic Games.
