When the Sci Fi channel's hit show Ghost Hunters investigated the Moore Theatre a couple of years ago they found no concrete evidence of paranormal activity, but as my kids would be quick to point out, that doesn't mean there aren't any ghosts. Workers at the theater have been telling stories of sightings for years, so who knows what you'll see on the second Saturday of every month when you can take a free tour of the place.
This is not actually a ghost tour, rather it's a chance to see the inner workings of this historic theater. The tours start at 10 am - just show up at the main entrance on the corner of 2nd Ave and Virginia St. Volunteers lead the free 90 minute tour. The next few tours will take place on May 9, June 13, July 11 and August 8.
Same thing goes for the opulent Paramount Theatre, except their tours are conducted on the first Saturday of every month. Be there by 10 am on the corner of 9th Ave and Pine St for your free 90 minute tour. The next few tours will take place on May2, June 6, July 4 and August 1.
“'Over 450,000 patrons pass through the doors of The Paramount each year. These free tours give the public a chance to learn more about this historic theatre while giving them a glimpse behind the scenes,' said Josh LaBelle, Executive Director of Seattle Theatre Group – the non-profit performing arts organization that owns and operates the historic Paramount and Moore Theatres."
