What would you do if you heard a show was coming to town that was something like 'Jurassic Park' jumping off the screen practically into your lap? If you discovered a 36 foot tall, 56 foot long Brachiosaurus would be walking toward you as you gazed up in awe? If you're like me, you would type a credit card number and click Enter just as fast as your fingers could go.
Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular is coming to town to Key Arena from April 29th to May 3rd with 15 life-size and lifelike animatronic dinosaurs that not only put on a show but interact with the audience. This is the BBC TV series come to life, with a 23 foot tall Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Stegosaurus, an Allosaurus and much more. The producer of the show, Carmen Pavlovic, states that “It is the closest you’ll ever get to experiencing what it was like when they walked and ruled the earth.”
The inside scoop on the show from the website:
"The arena is laid out with a proscenium stage at one end and the entire arena floor is our performing surface. Because the dinosaurs are the size they were in real life, the only venues large enough to accommodate them are arenas. We use both live and recorded video to enhance the scenes in the show; and the cinematic scope, dramatic lighting and symphonic sound used in the performance bring the creatures into three-dimensional reality as they walk around the arena floor."
Tickets for Walking With Dinosaurs go on sale to the public on Saturday, February 28th at 10:00 a.m. through Ticketmaster, but an internet presale has been in progress that ends at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27th. Oh, and don't forget your cameras because "amateur still photography is allowed – but no flash or video..." Don't want to scare the big guys.
