Does that crock-pot remind you of a romantic meal with your ex? Can't bear the sight of that extra toothbrush? Did she dump you but leave behind a sweater hanging in the closet? Take those tangible bad memories to The Stranger's 12th Annual Valentine's Bash and they promise that "we'll destroy it on stage in a sick, twisted way!" This popular event, hosted by Dan Savage, for the broken-hearted and mad about it will be held at Neumo's, February 14th. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9:30 p.m. Cost is $5.
The Beta Society is hosting Tears and Beers at Re-Bar on Valentine's Day at 7 p.m. and no one can say it better than they can:
"The Beta Society welcomes you to put down that half eaten box of conversation hearts, pawn that old keepsake locket and use that money for something more productive: beer and wallowing. Misery loves company and Beta has quite a large shoulder to cry on. Join us as we spill our collective guts when we share our true stories of love, heartbreak and internet dating. Relive some of our most pathetic moments with our filmed re-enactments of love gone awry. Feel the sting of rejection first-hand with our live staged-readings of break-up notes, emails and even a song or two about STDs."
Tickets are $10 and can be bought online or at the door. There will be $2 PBR specials. Can't beat that.
Then again, if you're just not up to going out, or prefer to host some friends at home, there are a couple of TV specials that might provide some catharsis. The History Channel will air "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre" at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and over on VH1 at 9 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. you can watch things fall apart in the "40 Greatest Celebrity Divorces."
