I attended the last North American tour of the Rolling Stones in 1981. Yes, I know, 8 years later they started touring again, but that's how they billed it then. A few years ago they came to Seattle again for the Bigger Bang Tour but by the time I heard about it tickets were gone (or so expensive I'd have to sell one of my offspring, and while I admit that's sometimes tempting I wouldn't actually do it - I mean, I have already seen the Rolling Stones).

The point of this story is to illustrate the usefulness of a website a friend recently passed along. When you sign up with Live Nation you can search concerts by zip code, tickets available now, tickets available soon and choose specific artists and venues to be alerted about, as well a buy tickets.

A quick browse of the site brought up the following shows:

Wednesday, 8/20 - Radiohead at the White River Amphitheater
Friday, 8/22 - Jack Johnson at the Gorge
Sunday, 8/24 - Melissa Etheridge at the Paramount Theatre
Monday, 8/25 - Edwin McCain at the Triple Door

Be aware, however, that not all Seattle and surrounding venues are listed on the site. A look at the Live Music calendar on the Seattle Post-Intelligencer site (also very useful) will bring up many venues not available on Live Nation, such as the Showbox, Neumos, Chateau Ste Michelle and the Tractor Tavern.
