Over 1,200 pets owned by low-income seniors and people living with AIDS are served by the Seattle Humane Society's Pet Food Bank. That number keeps growing. As does the number of animals surrendered to the Seattle Humane Society as people find it harder to keep their animals when they lose jobs and homes. Many of us are suffering the effects of the recession or know those who are, but pets are often the most helpless victims of a bad economy.
Bring your dog to South Lake Union the weekend of December 5th and participate in an event designed to help pets. The Pooch-Friendly Holiday Shopping Celebration at 2200 will feature "special holiday festivities and retail promotions benefiting the Seattle Humane Society." A few of the highlights:
There's much more going on, including complimentary chair neck and shoulder massages, a holiday giving tree, happy hour at Tutta Bella, free gelato, free pet food for people who adopt a dog, a canned food drive, lots of great shopping and a raffle. Visit the website for all the details, or just show up at 2200 Westlake Avenue at Denny Way above Whole Foods Market and start browsing the shops.
Pooch in tow, of course.
