Bells and choirs are a lovely way to begin the holiday season, and a free concert on Friday, December 5th will feature both.

Laurie Betts Hughes, the mastermind behind the 'Ring Them Bells' musical evening, is leading the recital as a requirement for earning her doctorate of musical arts in choral conducting through the UW School of Music. The University of Washington Recital Choir will perform, among others, and Laurie tells us that "the concert will feature some handbells and a whole slew of choral/ensemble songs about bells, sounding like bells, using bells, etc. I am conducting the concert, chose the literature, rehearsed the gang, put everything together. It's the Laurie show."

This festive and family friendly event will be held from 7:30 to 9 pm in the Lake City Christian Church located at 1933 NE 125th St.

It takes a lot of hard work and talent to reach this level of mastery and we're looking forward to the show.
