It's the night of frights and delights, of tricks and treats, and that goes for golfers as well. So, here are some last-minute costume suggestions for the Tour's biggest names, based on how their 2009 seasons went.

Tiger Woods - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
It was a tale of two seasons, and like the famous novel, it was the best of times and the worst of times. In one sense, Tiger had a great year, winning six times (including once in the playoffs), and took home the FedEx Cup. At the same time, he struggled in the majors including a missed cut at the British Open, and had issues with thrown clubs and verbal shots across the bow of fellow players. In the end, even a rollercoaster year is better than most players best, and Tiger was awarded yet another richly deserved Player of the Year award.

YE Yang - George Mason basketball player
In 2006, a scrappy George Mason men's hoops team redefined the sports term, "cinderella", making it all the way to the final four despite coming from a mid-major conference. In 2009, previously unheralded Y.E. Yang lifted the Wanamaker Trophy (not to mention his golf bag) after winning the PGA Championship at Hazeltine, becoming golf's newest "George Mason." And though he was the most surprising in a year of multiple first-time major winners (Cink and Glover also captured their first), with his coolness displayed while staring down the best player in the world, it likely won't be his last.

Stewart Cink - Hamburgler
Speaking of first-time major winners, Cink swiped the Claret Jug right out of the hands of Tom Watson, and at the same time, managed to make an enemy of thousands of British golf fans all at once. But if any of them became a follower of the Open Champion on Twitter, they'd likely give him some slack. His @StewartCink account is updated constantly with interesting and entertaining comments that open a window into the life of a golf pro. He's a charming thief, like Ronald McDonald's mischievous pal.

Tom Watson - Ponce De Leon
Like the famous explorer, Tom Watson chased the fountain of youth when, at age 60, he found himself leading during the final round of the British Open, and in a playoff for his sixth Open Championship and ninth major championship win. But as Ponce De Leon failed to find the magic pool, Watson fell short in his effort, losing control in the four-hole playoff, as Cink wrested the cup away.

Ernie Els - Hobo
The lovable hobo is a classic Halloween costume, and according to Tiger Woods, would fit Ernie Els to a tee. Woods, during a Deutsche Bank presser, was quoted as saying that Els was not a hard worker when it came to his golf game. But while it may or may not be true that Els was like a lazy hobo when it came to his rehab of his knee injury sustained in 2005, the timing and motivation behind Tiger's verbal stab was questionable at best, considering that Els was never a big threat during the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Padraig Harrington - Snowman
In the second half of the season, no one was playing with the consistency of Padraig Harrington. Over the last six tournaments, Paddy had 18 of 24 rounds in the 60s, and often dominated the first three rounds. But then, especially in the Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship, Harrington would break down, and a single hole would ruin his chances of claiming victory. Therefore, no costume represents his season better than the golfer's worst nightmare... the snowman.

Phil Mickelson - Wile E. Coyote
Talk about a tough year. Sure, many players had up and down seasons, but Philly Mick was especially heartbreaking. First, he had another "close but no cigar" finish at the U.S. Open, a tournament that continues to elude him. But more importantly, he suffered dual blows after learning that his wife, Amy, and his mother, Mary, were each diagnosed with breast cancer, causing him to take a month-long leave of absence. And while the importance of focusing on his personal life would never be debated, the fact is, his time off the course hurt his game, causing a late-season slump that lasted deep into the playoffs. With all the blows Mickelson took over the course of the season, I'm sure he felt like Wile E. Coyote failing yet again to catch the Roadrunner. But unlike the famous cartoons, the story ends happily for Mickelson, as he won the Tour Championship to close out his season and build momentum into 2010.
