Two college students, Samantha Akwei and Owen Rogers, were each awarded $1,000 scholarships to assist with their studies for the upcoming school year during the Harlem Week festivities.

Akwei, 20, an English major at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn who will transfer to Spellman College this fall and Rogers, 21, a journalism and international studies major at Penn State were ecstatic of winning the money which was sponsored by the NY Daily News. Both students were awarded the scholarships because of their hard work and exceptional academic achievement.
