Welcome, Romance Lovers!
You know I love those stunning, delicious cover models who grace our marvelous Romance novels...and I double-love them when they are sweet, kind, and caring as well as hot and sexy!
I want to welcome Andrei Claude this morning. Well, love, let's get started...
How did you get to be a cover model?
Well, although I must have come across a romance novel before, I honestly never knew there was such a thing as being a cover model until mid 2005, when my manager (who is based in Oklahoma) introduced me to the industry by entering me in the Mr. Romance contest.
Oooo! That would be the Romantic Times Booklover's Convention Mr. Romance contest?
That's the one!
That is fantastic! That's one of the biggest cover model contests around...congratulations!
Thank you!
Do you have a job outside of modeling?
No, for the past few years it’s just been modeling and acting.
You have a number of covers in print (or on upcoming releases). Can you show us some of them? Which are your very favorites?
The most recent I believe is Sexy Beast VII, and before that I did number VI of the series. I also shot the cover for Taken and Seduced which I really like as well as another one called Tempted by a Cowboy.
I have some of the covers, so I will show them to my readers.
Thanks!
I appreciate that!
Congratulations on your success as a cover model! How many covers do you have to your credit?
In total, between print and eBooks, it must be somewhere around 60 covers.
Now, that's impressive! So what do you love most about your job as a model?
Well I like the fact that I get paid to stay in good shape, however I can’t deny that it’s a lot more exciting than any other 9 – 5 job. It keeps you young and wanting to discover the world.
Being a model is not as easy as most folks think. What's your typical day of shooting like?
It’s not easy if you want to do it right. Depending on whether it’s studio or outdoor, a typical shoot normally lasts anywhere between 2 – 6 hours. You’re on your feet most of the time or else in some tremendously uncomfortable position, which of course you will need to make it seem otherwise.
Nevertheless it’s fun working with a crew and striving to achieve the best possible result.
Today, writers need not only write great books, but be great promoters of their books, too. Do you help the author promote the books? How?
Yes. I do try and help as much as possible. I do that mostly through the various romance novel web sites and magazines, who from time to time like to receive updates of my most recent work.
Here’s a loaded question: When you do a cover shoot, does the photographer/cover artist let you see and comment on the photos?
No, once the shoot is done everything is sent to the art department of the publishing house and the next thing I see months later is the book cover on the shelves of Barnes & Noble or on amazon.com
Wow...it sounds like an exciting profession, dear. Now, I took the photos you let me use, and made up a montage. I hope you don't mind if I show it here...
Sure. That's great.
Thanks for being with us today, Andrei.
Thanks for inviting me, Fran. It's been fun.
