A lone gunman is dead and at least two police officers are on administrative leave after a shooting outside of a Prince George’s County liquor store in the early hours of St. Patrick’s Day morning, according to a police spokesperson.

Police were called to the Holiday Liquors & Lounge at 3173 Branch Avenue, southeast of DC, shortly after midnight, March 16, after reports of a man walking around with a gun.

Conflicting witness accounts seem to indicate that the man ran into the store when officers approached. After a 30-minute standoff, the man exited the store and, allegedly, fired at officers.

At least two officers fired at the suspect, striking and killing him. Nobody else was injured in the incident.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is expected to release a formal statement regarding the shooting soon. Check out their website here.
