As if there aren't enough great reasons to drink tea, this colorful, little shop should definitely be near the top of the list.  White August Tea Company opened last month in Northeast Phoenix, at 3607 E. Bell Road, Suite 1, and conveniently off the Arizona 51.  You will know it by the fun, oversized ceramic tea-cup on the patio table out front.

With over 70 types of tea, you can choose from decaf, herbal, black, green, or white teas, just to name a few.  Many of the loose leaf teas are displayed along the wall, with a little sample in a silver canister for you to smell and savor. Actually, if one didn't know better, one would think the loose leaf is potpourri, because it's that dainty and fragrant.  And don't be afraid to ask for a sample before you commit to purchasing, the staff is more than willing to brew you a sample.

You know you've had good tea when you don't need to add any sweetener, such as Splenda, sugar, syrup, etc. When you can enjoy the hint of all the flavors of the tea itself, that is the best, and that is what White August has on it's shelves.

The owner, Tamara Graham, also teaches classes on how to brew the loose leaf tea.  It seems to be an almost therapeutic process of smelling each tea, deciding what flavor suits your mood that day, gathering the leaves into a little straining container, boiling the water on the stove, dipping the strainer into a tea cup.

For those of you in a hurry for your tea-fix, there is also a drive through.

So why not trade in that morning coffee or afternoon soda for a nice cup of hot or iced tea?  Your body will thank you.
