Smaller, Better, Greener, Stronger - The Newest Mac Mini
As if anyone needed another reason to adore Apple. The innovative tech company with its throngs of devoted consumers, has come out with a brand new Mac mini that claims to be "The World's Most Energy-Efficient Desktop Computer". Quite a claim must come with quite some evidence. Let's check it out.
- Less Energy: Apparently new technology, borrowed from the batteries of its relatives, the MacBook family, allows the Mac mini to work with Mac OS X so that it dynamically adjusts the consumption of power for maximum energy-efficiecy. This will allow Mac minis to use up to 45% less power than its competitors while idle.
- Fewer Toxins: Personally, being near whirring, blinking, power-sucking technology has always induced within me a sense of carinogen-phobia. Apple engineers seek to change that, removing brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from circuit boards, internal cables, connectors, insulators, adhesives, and more from the Mac mini.
- More Recycling: With a one-two punch of highly recyclable aluminum and polycarbonate on top of its slim 6.5 by 6.5 by 2 inch frame, the Mac mini stays ultra compact. Now this is what I call stunning material-efficiency.
- Less Garbage: We have all seen the tiny piece of technology encapsulated seductively within a ridiculous labrynith of impenetrable plastic casing. Praise Apple for kissing this environmentally irresponsible and laughingly inefficient form of packaging bye-bye. Mac mini boxes are 31 percent smaller than the previous generation AND the volume of the shipping box has decreased by 60 percent compared to the first-generation Mac mini.
CEOs and business owners take note: save space and energy while using the ground-breaking, gorgeously designed technology? It isn't necessarily the most budget-friendly option, but you have to love Apple for creating a worthy model of effiency to set the bar.
