Yes, it's true, it is expected that your heating bills will DOUBLE over what you paid last year. Andy Carlson, owner of Ace 
Hardware Alameda Staion says, "There are many simple things we can do ourselves to start saving energy and money". Although we may be heading back to temperatures in the 90's now is the time, while the weather is nice, to start preparing for the cold weather.
Paul Kriescher of Lightly Treading will be presenting an Xcel-sponsored workshop about winterizing your home on Saturday, August 23rd from 10:00am - 11:30am at the Alameda Station Ace Hardware. You can enter to win a FREE home energy audit from Lightly Treading and a FREE winterizing kit from Ace Hardware during the event.
This workshop will focus on winterizing your home this Fall, by cutting annual energy consumption by 10 percent to 50 percent, depending on your home. You will be encouraged to share specific questions about your home. If you bring along a copy of a last year's January or February as well as a June or July utility bill, Mr. Kriescher will compare (as time allows) 1 or more person's bills to that of a "typical" Front-Range homeowner's energy consumption.
