When you've got the Killers and M.I.A. headlining on the big stage and closing out the night, you've got more musical muscle in one Saturday night than a tour full of stadium shows. Part of what makes Coachella so great, or can make it so great, is that those headliners really are the gravy to a full meal. Having said that, the schedule that Coachella organizers released today reveal that you are going to have move fast between the Outdoor Theatre and the main Stage when Band of Horses are on at the same time as M.I.A. or when Jenny Lewis is on at the same time Turbonegro. That's going to be quite the hustle with Day Two packed with some of the best bands and performers around, the acquired taste of Dr. Dog, and a legend or two.
For all the music, there’s also another aspect to Coachella that gets overlooked – the art and installations. You’ve got to check out the "Elastic Plastic Sponge." The 250 foot long and 25 feet wide plastic tubing structure will not only light up the desert but spray down roasting festival goers. Now that's art you can use.
Day Two - Saturday - April 18
The Drive-By Truckers - if you thought the Golden Age of Southern rock was the 1970s when Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers reigned, you just haven't heard this Athens, Georgia based band strap on their guitars and crank it up. Oh yeah, they put on a killer show. (Outdoor Theatre - 3:40 - 4:30PM)

Henry Rollins - Some might find Henry just a little too intense, even in the California desert heat. In song, spoken word, on the page, radio and his IFC TV show, the former Black Flag frontman can come on a bit strong. Suck it up, the man is a living legend and a true American artist. A lot funnier than he's often given credit for, Henry's spoken word on Saturday will pack more power and probably at a high volume than most bands could ever dream of. Somewhere between the pumping of the iron, the tales of the road, the raw honesty, the USO tours, the cultural lambasting and - that's just one of the reasons one of hardcore's hardest men won a Grammy for his reading of his own Get In The Van: On The Road With Black Flag. One of the others is that Henry Rollins is the real deal, and in the Age of American Idol, you don't get to see that very often. (Mojave Stage 5:05 - 5:50PM)

Band of Horses - From Seattle, where the band was formed, to South Carolina, where they live now, Band of Horses cover the scope of American music as much as they do the country. They also bridge the gap between indie and the mainstream with hooky heavy and sometimes heartbreaking tunes that will turn Coachella into what stadium rock should have been with an intimacy that will find you dancing with someone you've never met before ... like that's a bad thing at all, right? (Outdoor Theatre 8:40 - 9:30PM)

Jenny Lewis - The Rilo Kiley singer maybe a critic's darling and the latest Reigning Queen of Laurel Canyon but with the band and solo at Coachella, Lewis can craft a song of heartbreak, sex, romance, politics and even some of the rough stuff that will quickly remind you that it's the music that matters. And her music surely does. (Outdoor Theatre - 9:50 - 10:40PM)
Turbonegro - These Norwegian shock rockers had to cancel their appearance at last year's Coachella because of guitarist Euroboy's cancer. Well, that's all been successfully dealt with and the band that isn't afraid to offend or deceive anyone anytime is returning to the spotlight they so rightly deserve. In denim, leather and eyeliner, they'll pummel your skull with tunes like "City of Satan," "F*** The World" and "Wipe It 'Til It Bleeds." You haven't seen anything like Turbonegro once they get started, and even though they are one of Johnny Knoxville's fave bands, you will like it, beg for it in fact. (Mojave Stage - 9:50 - 10:40PM)

Atmosphere - The last year saw Minneapolis's finest hip hop surge up from the underground they've long embraced all the way up to Number 5 on the Billboard charts with their When Life Gives You Lemons... album. It could not have happened to two more talented or hardworking musicians than frontman Slug and DJ Ant. That talent and dedication will be on display and on stage at Coachella. What will also undoubtly be there is the band's strong history. As well as performing songs off that album and 2005's You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having, Atmosphere will be showcasing the recent re-release of their God Loves Ugly record from 2002. (Outdoor Theatre 11:05PM)
Mastodon - Don't let the images of goblins, Hindu deities and horses fool you. Mastodon, like Atmosphere one of the final bands of the day, is about as hippy dippy as Black Sabbath when Ozzy was still singing for them. They rock almost as hard as well. And that, my friends, is spine chillin' hard. (Mojave Stage 11:05PM)

Oh yeah, bring a hat and a jacket to Coachella. In case you haven't heard, during the day it gets really hot out there in the desert and during the night it gets pretty chilly…even if the music is hot as the surface of the Sun.
